Developing Rescue Ready Lifesavers

Surf Sports is an exciting and dynamic way to develop your surf lifesaving skills while being part of a fun, supportive and competitive environment.

While often seen as the “fun” side of lifesaving, surf sports play an important role in developing the skills needed for patrols — including:

  • Surf awareness

  • Fitness and endurance

  • Decision making

  • Teamwork and resilience

Develop your journey

For many members, the journey starts in Nippers — building confidence, skills and a connection to the beach.

From there, opportunities include:

  • Competition at club and state level

  • Leadership roles

  • Coaching and officiating

  • Representing Tasmania

Surf sports offers lifelong involvement — whether you’re competing, volunteering or supporting your club.

Surf Sports pathways

There is no single pathway in surf sports — members can get involved at any stage and develop over time.
