Surf Life Saving Tasmania delivers training and assessment under a third-party agreement with Surf Life Saving South Australia Inc (RTO Code: 40110)

The Community Surf Rescue certificate provides teachers, surf instructors and other outdoor recreation members the knowledge and skills to be able to supervise people in a dynamic open water environment. 

The practical and theoretical sections of the course will equip candidates with the skills to supervise structured recreational activities at aquatic venues/ environments. The course focus includes safety, surf awareness, rescue techniques, carries/ supports and CPR.  

Successful completion of this course will result in:

  • HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
  • PUASAR013 Participate in an aquatic rescue operation
  • PUASAR012 Apply surf awareness and self-rescue skills

Course Delivery Options 

The Community Surf Rescue Certificate course is delivered on a blended format, as a full course or Refresher. 

  • Full Course - Online learning and Face-to-face delivery, two full days. 
  • Refresher - Online learning and Face-to-face delivery, 4-6 hours. If you have not completed an update course within 3 years, you will need to complete the full course.
