A space to share surf sports information, craft for sale, updates and sporting opportunities to fellow SLST members and the public:

State Development Squad Update

The first Development Squad hit outs were conducted this month with the Southern Squad working through their fitness testing at Clarence Sports Centre on 9 August and the North East and North West Squads running together on 15 August at Splash Devonport Aquatic and Leisure Centre. The attendances and the attitude of participants at these sessions were fantastic and set the tone for future sessions.

The focus of these sessions were to measure squad member's current levels of fitness, with the data to then be used to rank and bench mark performances, as well as providing targets for aspiring Development Squad members to pursue in testing sessions which can be held at club level.

The information we gain from the fitness testing and at the upcoming time trial sessions will assist the athletes and their coaches identify the gaps in their performances and to determine the best course of action to make improvements.

Squad Members (and/or parent/guardians) who have not yet joined their regional squads in the 'SLST Development Squad' on Team App are encouraged to do so ASAP. This is the preferred means of communication for the squad. Information on the upcoming Time Trial Sessions will be shared via Team App.

We are putting together an order for squad training tops using the information provided on the Member Profile forms. If you haven't submitted the form yet, please access it from documents folder in the Team App group and then return the completed form using the message function on the app to ensure you're included in our order.

Congratulations to all athletes!

*Selection of the squad was based on results achieved over the 2019/20 season. The squad will remain flexible and subject to the ongoing performance and commitment of the athletes. Club coaches will have the opportunity to submit justification for athletes to be added to the squad. Athletes from both the junior and senior squads will be contacted in the coming week to confirm their acceptance into the TSSDS.

Shortly nominations for Tasmanian State and Regional coaches will be advertised with the aim to have in place once we can all get back together.

In the meantime stay positive and safe.
