Overview

SLST requires all special events involving Surf Life Saving Clubs or Volunteer Marine Rescue Units to be formally endorsed before the event is held.

A special event is any activity involving Surf Life Saving support that sits outside standard patrols, training or education activities.

This may include:

  • Water safety services for events (e.g. triathlons, swims, community activities)

  • First aid services at public or school events

  • Activities requiring planning, or risk management advice.

Does my event require special approval?

If your event involves Surf Life Saving personnel, equipment or services outside normal operations, it is likely to be considered a Special Event.

You must submit a Special Event application if the activity:

  • Involves Surf Life Saving members, equipment or services

  • Falls outside normal patrol, training or education activities

  • Involves members of the public participating in an activity

If you are unsure, contact SLST before you start planning.
