Supporting safe club operations

Safety is a shared responsibility across Surf Life Saving.

Members are expected to understand risks, follow procedures and complete required training to support safe participation.

    The Safer Surf Clubs Guide provides practical guidance for managing safety and risk across all activities.

    Working Safely

    Members should:

    • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

    • Complete required training

    • Apply risk management practices

    • Use equipment appropriately

    Sun Safety

    Surf Life Saving strongly promotes sun-safe practices:

    • Wear protective clothing and hats

    • Apply SPF50+ sunscreen regularly

    • Use shade where possible

    • Schedule activities outside peak UV times
