
Clifton Beach SLSC defended their title to take out the club championship at the Open State Championships hosted by Carlton Park SLSC on March 14-15.
The winning club racked up a total of 861 points to claim victory amongst the other clubs with strong performances from athletes across the U15, U17 and Open age categories.
Burnie SLSC put up a fight to finish second on the club leaderboard with 660 points. Host club Carlton Park SLSC took the final spot on the podium with 396 points.
Among the top performers, Cate Clingeleffer (Clifton Beach) dominated the women’s Open division with wins in the 2km Beach Run, Board Race, Ironperson and Surf Race. Clubmate Courtney Beswick also won the women’s Open Single Ski.
In the Open Male events, winners hailed from various clubs which showcased the strong competition building in the Tasmanian surf sports environment. Anderson Towns (Alexandra Headland) claimed the Surf Race and Ironperson event where Ryan Stolp (Carlton Park) won the Board Race.
The Open State Championships were the perfect warm-up event as the athletes now turn their attention to the Aussies, taking place at North Kirra in QLD from 21-29 March.
