Kingston Beach was alive with energy, smiles, and splashes on Saturday 22 February, as their Starfish Nippers program provided an unforgettable experience for children with disabilities and additional needs.
The first of two Starfish programs to be held at Kingston this summer was blessed with perfect weather and a fantastic group of participants.
The young nippers had the opportunity to build confidence in the water, develop vital surf safety skills - and most importantly - have fun in a supportive and inclusive environment.
A mother of one of the Nippers said that the joy the program has provided to her son is priceless.
“Since our time with Starfish Nippers last year, my son has said ‘beach beach’ every weekend since and has found a love for the ocean,” she said. “We will definitely be returning every year.”
The hosts of the program, Kingston Beach SLSC, wanted to give a big shout out to all their dedicated volunteers and coaches who ensured that every child could enjoy the beach safely and confidently.
The next session of the program will be held on Saturday 22 March at 9:45am AEDT.
Spots are still available - to sign your nipper up for the program click here.
In addition, the program is always in need of extra volunteers for the delivery of these sessions.
