On Saturday 23 August, Surf Life Saving Tasmania hosted their biggest night of the year in Hobart, recapping the 2024/25 season with their 2025 Awards of Excellence. With many in their community being celebrated, Surf Life Saving Tasmania welcomed a new Hall of Fame inductee, Jamie Stubbs.
With over 40 years of service to surf life saving in Tasmania, Carlton Park Surf Life Saving Club’s Jamie Stubbs received the top honour of the night. From his early days earning a Bronze Medallion in 1985 to becoming a State, Australian, and World champion across various surf sport disciplines, Jamie has left an incredible mark on the sport.
Beyond his long list of titles and team successes, he has inspired generations as a mentor, coach, and leader, dedicating over 40 years of service to keeping our beaches and communities safe.
In the top awards of the night, Carlton Park Surf Life Saving Club capped off a brilliant season taking home the Club of the Year award.
Geri Doherty from Burnie SLSC took home the Surf Life Saver of the Year and the Youth Surf Life Saver of the year went to Heidi Kable from Penguin SLSC. The final major award was Volunteer of the Year, awarded to Janelle Kingston from Kingston Beach SLSC.
The 2025 Award of Excellence winners in each category will be a finalist for the Surf Life Saving Australia’s National Awards of Excellence which will be hosted in Sydney on Saturday 1 November 2025.
