With nearly 100 years of experience saving lives in and around the water, Surf Life Saving Tasmania is able to provide professional advise and trained lifeguards to assist sporting organisations, community groups and schools with water safety for a range of events including community swims, triathlons, regattas and festivals.
As you may have already seen MONA’s Dark Mofo Festival returns to Hobart in 2021. Therefore, we are recruiting volunteer Lifesavers to provide the water safety for the event as in previous years. Organisers have so far based planning on opening registrations to a maximum of 2,000 ‘nudies’, but this number may be reduced due to COVID-19 restrictions being applied to the event. The event will take place on Tuesday 22nd June 2021. I invite you to be part of the 2021 event.
Lifesavers are usually required to arrive and meet the team of Lifesavers at the Southern HQ facility on Long Beach, Sandy Bay at 6.30am. Drums will be played to alert swimmers to get ready around 7.30am, and then orange flares will be let off a couple of minutes later to signal that swimmers can enter the water. Actual timings will be confirmed. As a thank you for giving your time, we have asked MONA to provide complementary tickets for the MONA Winter Feast (TBC).
Volunteers must be over 18 years of age and hold a current Bronze Medallion. At this stage, we are looking for 30 volunteers to assist on the day.
Please express your interest ASAP to volunteer by clicking on the link below and completing a couple of questions.
