Our services

Surf Life Saving Tasmania provides qualified and experienced lifeguards to support safe aquatic activities and events across the state. Our lifeguards deliver water safety supervision and first aid services, helping event organisers, schools, and community groups manage risk and ensure participant safety. We provide lifeguards for a range of activities, including:

  • School and outdoor education programs

  • Regattas and community events

  • Open water swims

  • Triathlons and other events

Safety and supervision

The number of Lifeguards required is determined based on a risk-based assessment, taking into account:

  • Water and weather conditions

  • Location and environment

  • Number and age of participants

  • Type of activity

As a general guide, one lifeguard may supervise up to 15 swimmers in calm conditions. Final staffing requirements will be confirmed as part of the booking process.

Availability of lifeguards

All services are delivered by trained personnel with skills in supervising surf, open water, and inland aquatic environments. Lifeguard services are available year-round. The busiest period is between October and March, when demand increases due to warmer conditions and higher participation in water-based activities.

We recommend booking as early as possible to secure availability, particularly for peak periods in December and for large events.
