Appointed Director (Board Member)

Surf Life Saving Tasmania

Surf Life Saving has been part of Tasmania’s cultural fabric for the past 100 years. It represents the lifestyle, values and beliefs of the Australian community.

As a movement we are focused on creating a safe environment in and around our beaches and waterways, delivering essential education and training programs and providing emergency rescue services.

Today, Surf Life Saving Tasmania (SLST) comprises of a State Office, 15 Surf Life Saving Clubs, 7 Marine Rescue Units and 3 Support Services located around the coastline and over 3,000 members who are all committed to saving lives and positively impacting on their local communities. Governed by a dedicated Board of Directors, SLST is seeking to directly appoint two (2) new Board members to strengthen the team.

The Board is seeking expressions of interest from individuals who are interested in contributing to the next phase of SLST’s journey and supporting the Tasmanian community. In particular, the Board is seeking individuals for Appointed Board positions who have skill in the following areas:

  • Management accounting and/or financial management
  • Culture, change management and HR

Previous Board experience and Tasmanian residency would be viewed favourably. Directors will be appointed for up to a three-year term. The position is voluntary and whilst there is no remuneration for our Board of Directors, reasonable expenses will be reimbursed. Meetings are held outside business hours, once every two months, and generally last for 2-3 hours.

If you are interested in nominating, please submit a cover letter of no more than 2 pages, outlining what you feel you can contribute to the SLST Board, as well as a recent CV by Monday 30th May 2022.
