Time and again we have attempted to tame the elements. Time and again the lesson remains: respect the sea.
Since Surf Life Saving’s beginnings in the early 20th Century, thousands have learned this lesson the hard way. Today we are working to make that lesson easier. Our vision 'Safer Tasmanian Beaches' is achieved as much through education as through surf lifesaving services.
SLST offers a wide range of education and training, from first aid to basic surf rescue to workplace training & assessment. SLST offers nationally recognised training to its members, industry and the general public. For further information on courses available please contact: Boyd Griggs
Our Surf Safety Education programs such as the Beach 2 Bush program is an outreach to young school-age children, teaching them safety in the water. Over 6,000 school children attend each year. For those schools unable to participate in our various Surf Safety programs, SLSA offer an alternative classroom resource for years one to eight. By catching them early, we are equipping them for a lifetime of safety and enjoyment at the beach.
