 In conjunction with Marine & Safety Tasmania, SLST is conducting Personal water Craft (PWC) training in line with the new legislative requirements. 

Surf Life Saving Tasmania has used Personal Water Craft for rescue work since 1990's.  We provide swift water, floods and surf search & rescue services. In addition we provide training to Marine Search & Rescue Police around Australia.

The course is broken into a theory and practical session.  The time required for the practical program will depend upon your level of experience.  For those who have used a PWC, then an assessment of your competence will be made including any areas (such as towing skiers etc) you may wish to gain a greater knowledge of.  For those who have never been on a PWC the course will cover everything you need to safely enjoy your PWC.

Arrangements can be made for those who wish or need to attain their boat licence in addition to the PWC licence.

Courses are run monthly in the northwest, north and south of the state.  In addition courses can be arranged in other areas of the state depending upon numbers.  Names and numbers are being taken now for courses.

Course Requirements

• Jet Ski
• PFD's
• appropriate clothing - wetsuit
• lunch and water (optional)

During the winter months courses will be run on demand, we will continue to take bookings during this period and notify particpants once we have enough numbers to run a course.  A new course time table will be available on the web site as spring approaches.

Courses may need to be cancelled if minimum numbers required are not met (due to the costs of trainers, venues etc).  If this happens, you will be notified in advance and placed into the next available course, Surf Life Saving Tasmania apologies for the inconvenience should this occur.
