From the age of 5 years children can join their local Surf Life Saving Club to participate in Junior Activities.  We encourage children to have fun and develop their skills, and hopefully one day become a patrolling surf life saver.  It’s about developing tomorrow’s lifesavers and opening up a whole new world to children.

There are six achievement levels within the Junior Development Program providing a managed pathway for children to gain confidence in the surf.

Surf Play 1 and Surf Play 2 are programs for 5 and 6 year olds

Surf Aware One - 7 Years of Age*

Surf Aware Two - 8 Years of Age*

Surf Safe One - 9 Years of Age*

Surf Safe Two - 10 Years of Age*

Surf Smart One - 11 Years of Age*

Surf Smart Two - 12 Years of Age*

*A child age group is determined by thier age as at 30th September of that year

At the age of 13 years, children can attain their Surf Rescue Certificate, a precursor to the Bronze Medallion which they can achieve from the age of 15 years.

How do we become involved?

Each Club runs its own Junior Surf program.  For contact details of Surf Life Saving Clubs around the State Contact
