Surf lifesavers compete in SLS competitions to demonstrate their physical and mental skills and abilities. Surf sports play a major role in the preparation of surf lifesavers to meet the physical standards necessary for saving lives. Competition officials and organisers conduct competitions to support and encourage lifesavers to demonstrate their knowledge and skill. Properly equipped and qualified water safety personnel are provided at all competitions and all necessary safety arrangements are put in place prior to commencement of any competition. Competitions are conducted for a wide range of ages from Under eight to sixty years and older. There is a wide range of events to enable any individual to find an activity to suit them. These include events conducted in pools and beaches involving lifesaving activities, boats and various other craft, swimming and beach related events. To be eligible to compete members must fulfil a range of requirements including but not limited to;
Over the summer a number of state wide carnivals for seniors and juniors are hosted by surf life saving clubs around the state culminating in the State Championships in March. For this seasons events calendar please click here.
