The criteria for the final selection will be based on the applicant’s achievements in the following areas:

SLST ANCA Insurance Broker U19 Lifesaver of the Year

1. The criteria for selection will be based on the applicant’s achievements in the following areas:

3. Contribution to community through Surf Life Saving
4. Patrolling duties
5. Awards achieved
6. Past achievements
7. Potential future contribution
8. Sportsmanship
9. Competition achievement

SLST U19 Competitor of the year

Assessed on results from the Beach Sprints, Flags, Surf Swim, Board Race, Tube Race, Iron Person events

Tasmanian Official of the Year

SELECTION CRITERIA

GENERAL – (essential)

1. Is an accredited/licensed surf official.
2. Consistent carnival attendance throughout season.
3. Responsibility as a role model is demonstrated.
4. Promotes a positive image of surf lifesaving and officiates cooperatively with competitors and other personnel.
5. Observation is thorough and consistent to ensure fairness to all participants.
6. Is an effective and systematic decision maker – decisions are fair and equitable and can be factually justified.
7. If faced with a disputation – maintains composure and control of the situation.
8. A positive nature is projected to competitors who in turn feel comfortable with and have a rapport and respect for the official.

COMMUNICATION

1. Communication is conducted in a way that engenders respect between all parties
2. Decisions are communicated to competitors and other officials clearly and promptly

VERSATILITY – (desirable)

1. Shows diversity by officiating in varying disciplines i.e. referee, marshall, starter, line judge
2. Officiates at varying levels i.e. junior carnivals, senior carnivals, state championships, special events, interstate events, Australian championships

Tasmanian Assessor of the Year

SELECTION CRITERIA

GENERAL – (essential)

1. Is a member or probationary member of the Board of Lifesaving???
2. Has Training Officers Certificate.
3. Has attended Plan, Conduct & Review, Train Small Groups or similar training.
4. Consistently attended assessments throughout the season.
5. Demonstrated responsibility as a role model.
6. Promotes a positive image of surf lifesaving and works cooperatively with Area Managers, Training Officers, and candidates.
7. Observations are thorough and consistent to ensure fairness to all participants.
8. Is an effective and systematic decision maker.
9. A positive nature is projected to candidates who in turn feel comfortable with and have a rapport and respect for the assessor.

COMMUNICATION

1. Communication is conducted in a way that engenders respect between all parties
2. Instructions are communicated to candidates and training officers clearly and decisions of competency or otherwise are given promptly.

VERSATILITY – (desirable)

1. Shows diversity by assessing in varying areas i.e. Bronze, SRC, ARC, Radio, IRB etc
2. Willing to travel to all clubs within their area to assist with assessments.

SLST ANCA Insurancew Broker Premier Club

The Premier Club Award is awarded to the best life saving club in Tasmania each year.

Clubs are assessed on their ability to carry out the aims of SLST in providing life saving services to the public of Tasmania. To this end the award is calculated on issues that directly affect a club’s ability to offer excellence in its patrolling services.
