To all Ocean Swimmers, Event manager , Rod McCormack commented on the conditions: Unfortunately the weather conspired against us on Saturday night and numbers were well down on what we had hoped for. The day was much cooler than we had been experiencing and there was quite a strong wind blowing from the East which makes conditions unusually rough at the Bluff. In the interest of safety we shortened the course and did 2 laps of an “M” shaped course. Unfortunately for the “swimmers” this meant a run along the beach back to the start. Ok for the “Clubbies” and the triathletes, not so for the pool swimmers. To add to our woes we found some Blue Bottle jelly fish on the high tide water line, but to their credit all those that had entered still swam. We only had the one sting that I was aware of. It was great to see Shayne Gould swim and it gave her an opportunity to promote her Community ocean swim “Devil of a Swim” to be held on the 4th of April at Bicheno. Cheers Rod This coming Tuesday night Feb 23rd is a Community swim at Kingston Beach with registrations from 5.00 pm and a 6.00pm swim start. 1 and 2 Km if sufficient numbers. Entry form is available online so please print out and fill in before you arrive. March 2nd is the popular South Arm swim . Again a 6.00pm start. This is a point to point swim from Pot Bay to South Arm Beach.
